Rarely occurring as an isolated injury, posterior malleolus fractures are more often part of a complex trimalleolar injury. It is important they be treated effectively due to concerns with syndesmotic instability and the potential for post-traumatic arthritis. Acumed offers a range of products to treat posterior malleolar fractures, depending on the fracture type.

Ankle Plating System 3 Posteromedial Approach Cadaver Lab with Anish Kadakia, MD

The Acumed Ankle Plating System 3 is designed to provide a variety of fixation options for fractures of the distal tibia and fibula. In this video, system co-designer Anish Kadakia, MD, demonstrates his surgical approach to the posteromedial aspect of the ankle.

Ankle Plating System 3 Proximal Posterolateral Approach Cadaver Lab with Anish Kadakia, MD

The Acumed Ankle Plating System 3 is designed to provide a variety of fixation options for fractures of the distal tibia and fibula. In this video, system co-designer Anish Kadakia, MD, demonstrates his surgical approach to a more proximal posterolateral aspect of the ankle.

Clinical Studies

Case Studies

A 69-year-old female who sustained an ankle dislocation with associated distal fibula, posterior pilon, and deltoid avulsion fractures was treated successfully with the Acumed Ankle Plating System 3.
A 70-year-old female with a closed trimalleolar fracture dislocation was treated with the Acumed Ankle Plating System 3 and Small Fragment Base Set.
A 57-year-old man sustained a trimalleolar ankle fracture-dislocation that was treated with the Acumed Ankle Plating System 3.
